How Laguna’s Love for Music Started
Laguna Munta is a solo artist from Taos, New Mexico, where he's lived his entire life. He composes original music, with Rock being his most preferred genre. Laguna Munta likes to write and record his music while playing guitar and a little bit of piano. Laguna Munta grew fond of music because of his father. Laguna's father also wrote and recorded his music, which Munta grew up seeing and eventually loving. Laguna Munta would mostly hear his dad working on his recordings, which made him more curious about the work of music. Moreover, this also contributed significantly to his current creativity and originality aspects. The artist disclosed that his parents placed a speaker beneath his crib. The speaker was mostly used to play his father's songs and to help Laguna sleep. That, and listening to music for most of his childhood, made Laguna Munta fall in love with this art. As a result, he started playing the drums when he was just ten years old before working his way up to playing the bass, guitar, and eventually singing.
The Training Process
Because music came to him subconsciously, Laguna Munta only had few training sessions on the guitar. During that time, his instructor thought he didn't even need the lessons because he pretty much got everything correct. However, Laguna Munta believed that he needed to better his playability, but it wouldn't be because of formal training.
Laguna Munta’s First Performance
Laguna Munta described his first performance with excitement. It's hard for enthusiast musicians to forget such a date in their lives, which is the same as Laguna Munta. His first performance was in high school, where he rocked with a band called Sectarian Violence. The band comprised of 15-year-olds, including him, and it was on a Halloween night. The gig happened at Firehouse in Angel Fire, New Mexico, with all of them wearing costumes. Having fun was the aim at that time, and people responded quite well to their epic performance.
Covid-19’s Effect on Laguna’s Music
Laguna, like other artists, has also had difficulties during this pandemic period. He's had his shows canceled, something that makes him want everyday life back. During this time, Laguna Munta has had more than enough time to get more intimate with his guitar. He's significantly flourishing in his guitar skills, and this break has given him more time to record and work on his craft. Currently, he's working on his second album.
His Music Journey Continues
Despite the current situation, Laguna Munta still regards music as an essential part of his life. So, he needs to continue with the craft. He calls music his purpose, and without it, nothing else makes sense. It's his creative outlet because the theme drives his creativity and keeps him going. So, under no condition will he stop writing and recording music, something that he truly loves.
Laguna Munta's Music Goals for the Remainder of 2020
Laguna aims to finish his second album, which isn't a straightforward rock and roll album, unlike the first. This one features other inclusions, making it a bit different and difficult compared to his first album. Once done, he wants to master it and present it to the public. Additionally, Laguna has also done some small films and episodes with friends. For the remaining time this year, Laguna Munta would also like to work on video and film.
