Augustine Fernandez was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. Currently, he is 31 years old, and he loves painting, cinematography, and photography as well. Since picking up the camera, Augustine has been on a journey with it. According to him, photography was a path meant to be for him. However, it wasn’t always a clear choice in the beginning. Initially, Augustine used to sell cameras for a long time and never thought that he would later become a photographer himself. Of course, he used to see photography but never considered himself someone who would join the field. But it was his painting that influenced Augustine into photography because he started capturing his paintings. The experience was fun, and that’s when he started picking up on photography.
The Experience with His First Professional Camera
With his very first photo, Augustine felt highly motivated because it was incredible and felt really organic to him. He realized that there is a lot more to capture around him and globally as well. With photography, Augustine can showcase his different styles and capture the things that make Taos beautiful and unique from other states.
Augustine’s Hope for His Photography Work
Because he is already in love with this type of art, Augustine hopes that his photography work takes him to greater heights. His photography is unique because it’s all organic, meaning that it requires very little editing from him. This is because he uses his camera like his paintbrush to create the type of image he wants to come through it.
His Business Plans
Augustine is looking for some business for his artistic work and hopes to be independent by creating something long-term. In fact, Augustine has already visualized potential clients for his work in the near future. However, his main focus remains to show people what life has to offer. Augustine shares his work on social media and captures beautiful sights just to add beauty and happiness to others, especially during this challenging period.
Augustine on COVID and Photography
Like most people, Augustine felt the pandemic’s impact on his photography work. With most parks closing, he was forced to work mostly alone. However, he was able to capture the natural beauty that the earth offers without people around. Another positive takeaway with photography during COVID is the peace and tranquillity he felt during his capturing sessions. This was facilitated with the silence, which made him one with the land. So, for him, COVID was a time to reinvent oneself and a growing period for most people as well.
Lessons on Following His Heart
Augustine believes that everyone has that special light burning inside waiting to come out. He hopes that people find the inspiration and motivation to bring that light out. For him, the pandemic was the inspiration he needed to get back to his roots and start doing what he loved again.
His Inspirational Message
Augustine believes that there is no better time for photography enthusiasts to pursue their dreams than now. This is because people can create beautiful pieces even from mere smartphones. Whether it’s sunny, cloudy, or rainy, he believes that you can always get something amazing to capture.
Augustine’s Plans for the Rest of the Year
His main plans remain taking more photos and creating more content as well. This is now his passion, something that he can’t do without. Augustine will continue striving to capture the perfect image regardless of the weather or location.
